1. Understanding
A job interview is a conversation which occurs between a potential employer and a job applicant. During the job interview, the employer has the opportunity to appraise applicant's qualifications, appearance and general fitness for the job opening.
2. Question & Answer (Content)
a) Could you tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
After greeting, shaking hands and introducing yourself, the next thing that interviewers are probably going to ask you to do is to talk about yourself. They want to know about you and your career growth; they want to know about you related to the job you’re applying for.Answer :
“I’ve been working as a junior architect at a small construction company for 2 years and my duties included assisting the senior architect and I’m have been contributed to the an old company project. I have always been interested in architectural design and drawing, which was why I chose to follow this career path.”
b) What are your strengths?
When your interviewer asks you this question, they want to know all your positive qualities. These positive qualities need to relate to what they want and are looking for.
Answer :
“To do things and make them happen. I’m proactive. When I think about things, I do them. I like to see results and it’s important in this industry to be proactive and responsible for your own actions.”
c) Why did you leave your last job?
If you’re applying for your first job, this question is not for you.
However, if you’ve worked before, the interviewer wants to find out why you left your old job.
Answer :
“I’m looking for a job where I can grow with the company.”
d) How did you hear about this position?
Employers want to know whether you are actively seeking out their company, heard of the role from a recruiter, or were recommended to the position by a current employee.
Answer :
“I learned about the position through LinkedIn as I’ve been following your company’s page for a while now. I’m really passionate about the work you’re doing in design interior, modeling construction, and and rendering areas, so I was excited to apply. The required skills match well with the skills I have, and it seems like a great opportunity for me to contribute to your mission, as well as a great next move for my career.”
e) Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
Answer :
“I enjoy a blend of the two. I like having a team to strategize with get diverse opinions from, and reach out to for feedback. But I am also comfortable taking on assignments that require me to work independently. I find I do some of my best work when I can focus alone in a quiet space, but I really value collaborating with my teammates to come up with the best ideas.”
f) How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
Answer :
“I realize stressful situation are always going to come up, and I definitely have to learn how to navigate them throughout my career. Previously, I may have defaulted to panicking in that situation, so being calm and collected was definitely a step forward and helped me approach the situation with more clarity.”
g) What did you do to improve your knowledge?
Here they want to know everything you’ve studied related to the job. For example your training and further education (e.g. university, polytechnic, college).
Answer :
• “I studied at Gajah Mada University, where I gained my architecture bachelor degree. And the extra time on my plate really allowed me to get introspective around where I want to take my career. I read a lot of journals to keep abreast of the latest ideas in my field, and sharpened my skills by taking some online courses.”
h) What kind of salary do you expect?
For this quesions they will asking you about how much money you would expect to earn from the job.
Answer :
“Based on my skills and experience and on the current industry rates, I’m looking at a salary around $970”

4. Etiquette
a) Tell the truth.
b) Listen wisely to the interviewer.
c) Never slight a teacher, friend, employer, or your college.
d) Watch your grammar.
e) Be prepared for personal questions.
f) Don’t be embarrassed if you are nervous.
g) Be on time
h) Wait for the interviewer to mention salary and benefits.
i) Don't expect a job offer at the first interview.
j) Close on a positive, enthusiastic note.
